I feel a hat fetish coming on

Started my first hat last night and just about ready to start reducing.
This is what the finished product should look like:
Rolled Brim Hat

It's in a lovely purple, 12 ply wool on 4.5 circular needles.
I'm doing the medium size, but a little worried it will still be too small. Should know by tommorrow.

Will have to figure out how to blog photos.....
Edit - the finished product:

Succeeded in getting up early this morning and getting a double weights session done at the gym. Shocked to see it was less than 2 deg when I got up. Now it is time to replenish carbs and protein for lunch - so I get to splurge - yum Thai.

The start of a knitting addiction

About a month back I ran across a stall selling yarn in the middle of my local shopping centre. Just when I was thinking that a fancy scarf would be an ideal b'day present for a friend. I thought about shelling out $30+ for said scarf, then thought again, trotted off and bought some needles, some yarn and started knitting.

The first scarf was done and delivered, a second scarf for myself got done mid-way through, and I have just finished my 3rd effort - a cable pattern. Although I am thinking about tassles or something for it yet.

But my needles are empty and now it is time to start something new.

With each new project I try to learn a new skill. I figure at 34 I am way behind the 8-ball already, so time to catch up.

Winter has hit with a vengence, so a hat is in order. Picked up the yarn a few days ago and some circular needles. When I checked the pattern however, I discovered that I would likely need another ball of yarn, so back to Spotlight this morning to purchase.
Depression set in when I couldn't find any, but I hunted and hunted and eventually tracked down the sole remaining ball in 100% wool 12 ply Checkheaton Country bon bon colour. Which is a kind of purple. So now nothing is holding me back - except for work. I'll be knitting from a pattern with no gauge specified, so no idea how big it will actually turn out.

I also have another scarf planned. Basically to use up some of the initial stash I went crazy on buying, but also to practise/learn some intarsia. This will be a word scarf - and must be completed in the next month as it is for MIFF.
